The Priest and his Mobile in Hampi,India

In the last decade, mobile connectivity seems to have slowly become indispensable in our daily lives !! While this has helped everyone to keep in touch  but more often than not, it is actually a distraction or sometimes a loyal companion during a solitary sojourn. During our visit to Hampi (medieval city of magical, mystical ruins) in India, we climbed up to Anjani Parvat a small hill believed to be the birthplace of Lord Hanuman for a photo stop as well as visit the Temple. Walking around the hill top, occasionally sliding over boulders and jumping over rocks but all the while clicking away, I did not realize the emergence of a photo story of a priest and his mobile until much later. He seemed to be looking for a quiet place to look at his texts but was often interrupted by tourists until he saw them all fade away at a distance and settled down facing the green valley with the mobile in his hand. May be he was hearing chants, may be he was not or maybe he was seeking a quiet place to meditate 🙂 Actually, the tree, the temple and the view beyond the rocks caught our attention but unknowingly the priest took centre stage.

Sometimes these moments captured gives us a lot to smile about when we reminiscence our travels. For me, these are treasures that allow me to weave stories on a lazy tropical afternoon when I don’t have much to do. Thinking about the ifs and buts is almost a management game, nurtures my creative and strategic thinking. Do you have an accidental photo-story that makes you smile ? Tell me more, send me a link.
